Lee Yoon-hyung, the third daughter of Samsung Group chairman Lee Kun-hee, has died in a car accident in New York. Sources in the business community said Monday that Lee Yoon-hyung, who was studying at New York University, was involved in a fatal car crash last Friday.
Siblings including Lee Jae-yong, Boo-jin, and Seo-hyun rushed to the U.S. on Saturday upon hearing the news. Lee Kun-hee, who has been in the U.S. for the last two months, and his wife Hong Ra-hee are keeping vigil by Yoon-hyung's body.
A graduate of French literature from Ewha Womans University, Lee had an open nature and even launched her own website, unlike her siblings, who prefer to keep a low profile. In September of 2003, she had to close the site due to a deluge of visitors. Like her father, she was also keen on car racing.
