Police have arrested another man for the brutal rape of pupils at a school for the hearing-impaired in Gwangju which were the subject of a novel and movie. Gwangju police on Thursday said they arrested a 63-year-old man, identified only by his surname Kim, used to work as an administrator at the Gwangju Inhwa School and was accused of rape but let go in 2006 due to lack of evidence.

Kim is the younger brother of the principal of the school, who has already served prison terms for rape and molestation.

Kim is accused of tying the hands and feet of an 18-year-old female student in the school office in April 2005 and raping her, police said. He is also accused of assaulting another student who witnessed the rape. The witness, who was 17 at the time, attempted suicide due to the shock.

Police reopened the case after the movie "The Crucible," which focused on the sexual abuse claims at the school, incensed the nation earlier this year. Following a two-month investigation, police indicted 12 school officials on rape, assault and corruption charges.
