A record 380,000 foreign patients were treated in Korea last year, bringing the total to more than 2 million over the last decade.
Korea only opened up to medical tourism in 2009.
According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare on Wednesday, 378,967 foreign patients received treatment here last year, up 17.8 percent on-year.
They came from 190 countries, but Chinese topped the list at 31.2 percent, followed by Americans at 11.9 percent, Japanese at 11.2 percent, Russians at 7.2 percent and Mongolians at 3.7 percent.
Their number has risen from 60,201 in 2009.
The largest proportion or 19.4 percent were treated by internal medicine and primary specialists. Next came plastic surgery (14.4 percent), dermatology (13.7 percent), overall checkups (8.9 percent), and ob/gyn clinics (5.3 percent).
