The granddaughter of a Hong Kong clothing tycoon died after falling into a coma during liposuction and breast-augmentation surgery in a cosmetic clinic in Seoul on Jan. 28, the South China Morning Post reported Wednesday.

Bonnie Evita Law (34) was the granddaughter of Law Ting-pong, the founder of the Bossini clothing brand. The family fortune is valued at around US$7.8 billion and puts it among the 50 richest families in Asia according to Forbes.

The Law family plans to file a murder complaint in Hong Kong against the clinic and surgeon, according to the SCMP.

Bonnie Law's husband was quoted as saying that he stands to lose a stake equivalent to one-third of his in-laws' wealth due to his wife's death and intends to seek compensation as well.

Police in Korea are also investigating. "We interviewed the bereaved family and plan to look into whether similar mishaps occurred before at the hospital," a police spokesman said.
