A court on Thursday ruled in favor of revoking the medical degree of fly-by-night Justice Minister Cho Kuk's daughter, who was caught cheating on her application forms.
Cho Min had taken Pusan National University to court over its decision to retroactively cancel her 2015 admission to its medical school after her mother was jailed for forging some of Cho's academic credentials.
The district court said there were "no procedural flaws" in the university's decision to nullify Cho's admission.
It added that the damage Cho caused to the fairness of the admissions process, as well as the ethics and social responsibility of doctors and the autonomy of universities outweigh the personal damage she may suffer due to the decision.
Cho immediately appealed. Her lawyer said, "Even an internal investigation by the unversity showed that the forged credentials did not affect the admissions decision."
Cho Kuk, a crony of ex-President Moon Jae-in's, was catapulted into the job of justice minister in 2019 despite sweeping allegations of plagiarism and dodgy business dealings but lasted barely over a month in the job.
