Incheon International Airport Corporation has announced a plan to introduce a separate gate for celebrities in an effort to address public concerns regarding overcrowding.

On Oct. 23, the Corporation confirmed it had sent official notices to entertainment agencies, recommending the use of this exclusive gate for celebrity departures.

The notice stated, “To alleviate situations where large crowds gather, we will implement a procedure allowing celebrities and other public figures to use a designated gate in the departure area, starting Oct. 28.”

However, the airport clarified that this does not involve constructing a new entrance for celebrities. Instead, they will be permitted to use the existing gate currently designated for flight attendants and pilots.

An airport official explained, “Celebrities often attract large crowds, which can lead to congestion and inconvenience for regular passengers, as well as potential safety hazards. By submitting an application, they will be able to access a separate entrance.”

Incheon International Airport has repeatedly faced safety concerns due to large crowds gathering when high-profile individuals travel.

For example, last July, actor Byun Woo-seok’s private security team sparked controversy by controlling a gate, using flashlights, and checking the tickets of lounge passengers to prevent fans from approaching him as he left the country.
