South Korea’s police said in an emergency briefing on Jan. 6 that its martial law special investigation team is considering arresting Presidential Security Service staff if they attempt to block the execution of a second arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk-yeol.

In response to a question during the briefing about how the police plan to handle the situation if Presidential Security Service staff block the police’s arrest attempt, an official from the special investigation team said, “We are continuously reviewing the situation and considering various options.”

When asked whether the police have considered deploying special forces or commandos to ensure the warrant is carried out, the official declined to elaborate, stating, “I can offer no details beyond a general answer at this time.”
