North Korea has the world's fourth-largest standing army, according to data from Canadian information provider World Atlas on Tuesday.
North Korea has a total of 1.2 million soldiers in active service, meaning that a staggering 30 percent of its population are members of the military.
China has the largest army with 2 million soldiers but a vastly bigger population, followed by the world's second most populous nation, India (1.45 million). The U.S is also armed to the teeth in third place with 1.39 million.
Militant Russia only ranks sixth with 850,000 soldiers, while South Korea ranks eighth with 555,000 servicemen.
However, military experts point out that the number of active soldiers alone does not determine a country's military power, especially since much of North Korea's equipment is out of date.
