Lee Won-joo, the youngest daughter of Samsung’s top executive Lee Jae-yong, is currently interning at the Simmons Center for Global Chicago, according to the U.S. nonprofit organization on Feb.7.

On the center’s webpage introducing workers of the organization, she said, “I am from Seoul, South Korea, but I was born in New York City. I am currently a second-year student at the University of Chicago, majoring in Data Science.”

She continued, “I always try my best to positively impact whatever society and community I belong to or reside in. I have assisted with local community service groups near my high school campus and within campus. I am excited to be working at Simmons Center for Global Chicago.”

The organization, a small-scale group with three full-time workers and four interns including Lee, is a nonprofit organization based in Chicago, aiming to make Chicago a global city. It works with nonprofit organizations for global development and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to raise the international profile of Chicago. The center is known to connect global NGOs, philanthropists, social activists, job seekers, and scholars for regional development and provides a variety of information.

Lee’s internship lines in with her father’s management philosophy of “coexistence with the local community.” Chairman has accentuated the ideology of togetherness, saying “Sharing and growing together is the only way to be the world’s best.” At his inauguration on Oct. 25, 2022, the head mentioned, “We Samsung must work with the society. We must share with customers, shareholders, partners, and local communities and grow together.”
