Luxury hotel brand ‘Aman’ is entering Seoul in 2027 with its sister brand ‘Janu’.
According to a Dec. 8 hotel industry sources, Aman has selected South Korea as its sixth country for Janu Hotels, and plans to open an urban luxury hotel in Seoul in 2027.
Aman will open Janu Tokyo in Tokyo’s Azabudai Hills next March, followed by Janu Hotels in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia in the Middle East and Budva Island, Montenegro in Europe.
Aman is a global luxury hospitality brand. It has established a unique image as a favorite destination for celebrities and the world’s wealthy.
In Korea, BLACKPINK member Jennie was spotted staying at Amangiri Resort in Utah, USA, and actor Lee Jong-seok and singer IU couple stayed at Amanemu Resort in Nagoya, Japan. Aman operates resorts in secluded locations far from the city center and hotels in urban areas that are conveniently located under the “Janu” brand.
Seoul will be Aman’s second Janu hotel brand in Northeast Asia after Tokyo. Aman is said to be monitoring the progress of Janu Seoul and has even considered opening Janu Busan in Busan.
Aman’s cheapest rooms cost over $764 (a million won) a night. At the Amangiri in the United States, where Jennie stayed, a one-night stay in the off-season starts at $4.55 million, excluding taxes. High season prices top $10 million. That’s at least double the price of Banyan Tree, a popular luxury resort in Korea.
However, Aman goes after the saying ‘service more than the service fee itself’. Among luxury resorts, Aman has a reputation for extreme customer satisfaction.
For example, if you want to have a picnic on top of a mountain near the resort, they’ll arrange for a helicopter to take you there. Guests can take the helicopter up at their convenience and enjoy a catered meal on the mountain.
If you want to eat something that’s not available in the city you’re staying in, just let them know and they’ll fly in the ingredients you want, even if it means flying out of town.
Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio are among the most famous Aman fans. Actor George Clooney and his wife were married at Aman Venice. They call themselves ‘Aman junkies’.
However, the sister hotel brand Janu, which will be located in Seoul, is expected to be more affordable than the existing Aman resorts. Janu means “soul” in Sanskrit.
