Foreigners have bought more tickets to South Korean concerts and musicals this year, according to new data released by e-commerce platform InterparkTriple on Dec. 7.

The number of ticket bookings and transaction value rose by 136 percent and 370 percent, respectively, from January to November this year on the platform’s global website Global Interpark.

Concert tickets accounted for 75 percent of all ticket bookings. This was followed by musicals (13 percent) and sporting events such as e-sports (7 percent).

By country, Japan accounted for 34 percent of all ticket bookings, followed by China (15 percent ), Taiwan (7 percent), and the United States (7 percent).

“Global interest in Korean culture and performance is increasing along with global demand for Korean content,” said Kim Kangse, Chief Strategy Officer at InterparkTriple.
