Actor Kim Ji-hoon, starred in the Netflix drama “Money Heist - Korea” recently appeared on a TV program and told the story about how he purchased Trimage, an expensive apartment in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, worth $2.99 million (4 billion won), for $112267 (150 million won) when it was unsold.
Trimage, colloquially known as the “celebrity apartment” in Korea, is home to many celebrities and considered as a symbol of wealth.
This apartment building first draw public attention when BTS’s Jungkook purchased it for $1.45 million (1.95 billion won) in Oct. 2018.Another BTS member, J-Hope (Jung Ho-seok), joined in this apartment in 2016, and Super Junior’s Choi Si-won, Kim Hee-chul, and Lee Teuk, as well as Girls’ Generation’s Sunny, are also known to have purchased the apartment, giving it the nickname “celebrity apartment”.
Soccer player Son Heung-min also purchased Trimage for staying when he visits Korea. He reportedly borrowed $1.46 million (1.958 billion won) to purchase it for $1.82 million (2.44 billion won). Currently, in total, more than 80 celebrities are reportedly living in Trimge, including Super Junior’s Choi Siwon, Lee Taek, Kim Hee Chul, Girls’ Generation’s Sunny, and JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong.
One of Trimage’s popularity is its all-glass windows, providing an unobstructed view of the Han River even from the lower floors.
Eco-friendly neighborhood close to Seoul Forest with excellent transportation infrastructure is another reason why many celebrities want to live here. From Trimage, Gangbyeon Buk-ro, Olympic-daero, Dongbu Expressway, and the Inner Ring Road are all easily accessible. By crossing the Seongsu Bridge, the residents can directly access Apgujeong-dong and Cheongdam-dong. Celebrities who live the apartment can commute easily to broadcasting stations in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do, or Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, by taking the Gangbyeon North Road. Additionally, beauty salons in Cheongdam-dong are located just across the river.
