A croissant filled with kimchi and cheese has become a popular treat in the Hamptons, a favorite vacation spot for affluent New Yorkers.
The $8.50 kimchi-cheddar croissant from Carissa’s Bakery has become something of a “Hamptons experience” for vacationers, according to the Wall Street Journal on July 8. “Summer in the Hamptons means Hermes sandals left by a beach entrance, Chanel at the farm stand, and Range Rover after Porsche after Mercedes idling in traffic,” described the WSJ.
The kimchi-cheddar croissant is boxed in a bag that is “so nice it could almost be used as a purse.” It is the most expensive pastry at Carissa’s because it requires labor-intensive preparation. The bakery makes the kimchi in-house so that everything is made from scratch, the WSJ reported.
