In the wake of the tragic Muan Airport tragedy, efforts to provide comfort and solace continue to emerge, offering a glimmer of warmth to those affected by the disaster.

The Korea Culinary Master Chef Association has stepped forward to extend a helping hand, preparing warm meals for those tirelessly working on-site. Among the volunteers was Ahn Yu-seong, the 16th Master Chef of Korea, along with members of the association’s Honam branch.

The association announced that its members had prepared meals on Jan. 5 for firefighters, forensic investigators, military personnel, and police officers stationed at the accident scene. The menu included traditional dishes such as Naju beef bone soup, freshly made kimchi, rice balls, tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties) and more.

Ahn Yu-seong, widely known for his appearance on the Netflix show Culinary Class Wars, participated in the effort as the President of the Honam branch. This was not his first act of kindness—on Dec. 30, he prepared 200 rolls of gimbap for the victims’ families, and on January 1, he cooked abalone porridge.

“Food has the power to heal,” said Chef Ahn. “I’m grateful that I could lend a small hand during such a difficult time.” He also emphasized the need for continued efforts and attention, noting that food-related volunteer work remains insufficient.

The association expressed its commitment to supporting those in need and hopes to inspire more efforts to provide relief through comforting meals.
