“‘Mission: Cross’ is a film about a couple who mismatch like a lottery ticket but eventually come together,” said director Lee Myung-hoon at a press event in Seoul on Aug. 5. Main cast members Hwang Jung-min and Yum Jung-ah also expressed their excitement about the film, discussing their roles and on-screen chemistry.
Described by Lee as a “romantic comedy action” film, “Mission: Cross” combines thrilling action with humor and offers a fresh take on gender roles. The story follows Park Kang-mu (Hwang), a former agent living as a homemaker, and his wife, Kang Mi-seon (Yum), an ace detective who suspects her husband of hiding secrets. As they tackle a major case, they ultimately come together as a team.
Hwang said, “I’ve mostly worked with male co-stars. I was eager to see which actress would have great on-screen synergy with me.” Yum added, “The script was so entertaining. When I learned Hwang was cast as the lead, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.”
Hwang praised his co-star, saying, “Working with her was wonderful. Her warmth made it easy to connect.” Yum appreciated Hwang’s support, stating, “Hwang took the lead on set, allowing me to focus on my acting.”
Director Lee noted, “While most action films focus on ‘bromance,’ this film explores the dynamics between a male and female couple.”
With dynamic action and strong chemistry between Hwang and Yum, “Mission: Cross” is set to captivate audiences globally this summer.
The film will be released on Netflix on Aug. 9.
